Principal's Welcome

It's a pleasure to be welcoming you back after what I hope has been a restful summer.  We are raring to go for the upcoming school year and as excited as ever that we get to work with your children!  Our building has been scrubbed, painted, waxed, and cleaned and are ready for our students.

Our Math Connects program continues to evolve.  The math specialists deserve big KUDOS for all the hard work they have put in over the summer putting new curriculum documents together, adjusted pacing, creating new assessments, etc.  They are truly bucket fillers!!!  We are excited to be rolling out our second year with the program.

In the area of Language Arts, new curriculum documents were distributed to Grade 1 and 2 teachers.  Kindergarten teachers received theirs the year before last.  The SST and Reading Specialists created a "menu" of interventions that reflect the interventions listed in the new documents and purchases have been completed to make sure we have everything available to address students' needs.  This will help us in deciding what interventions students may need if they need help.

I am truly excited about the progress we have made at the K-2 level, especially at Clearview in terms of our RtI (Response to Intervention) transition.  With all the wonderful changes in the curriculum and with the Common Core Standards ahead, we are working on some updates to our current report cards.  We hope to have them ready to go for the first marking period.

We will have a SCHOOL-WIDE Positive Behavior Expectations that now have combined the BUCKET "Fill-osophy" and the Code of Student Conduct!  These expectations will make behavior expectations consistent from room to room and in common areas.  There will be posters and binders with lesson plans for teaching expectations.  You can view these on the website.

We will continue the Bucket Filler Program as we did last year with this wonderful addition.  We will also conduct a "kick-off" assembly the first week of school to remind kids about the bucket filling ideas.  Class of the Week activities will, as usual, be centered around bucket filling and this year the literature connection will be "Howard B. Wigglesbottom Learns About Bullies".

Just a word about PTA:  This wonderful organization has done a great deal to provide special events and programs for our kids.  If you have the time, please plan on attending the meetings.  BUT you can help in other areas by just volunteering to "man" and event, chaperone an event, bake for a bake sale, or whatever you can do.  It certainly is a worthwhile cause!

Just an FYI:  Stroudsburg Area School District met 25 out of 25 criteria for making AYP!  YOU are to be commended for that!  Congratulations to all our teachers and students for their hard work!

As always, we are committed to making your child's school experience the best it can be!
